What is Amtgard?

Amtgard is a world-wide organization dedicated to medieval and fantasy combat sports and recreation. We use padded weapons, fantasy and authentic clothing, and imagination to immerse players in a world of heroic combat, quests, crafts, and more.
 

No matter if your interest is competitive sports fighting, finding an outlet for your creative talents, or honing your leadership skills, Amtgard has something to offer you!

We come together and fight hunger in our local communities every September and naturally to compete amongst ourselves to see which Kingdom can do the most good.

Farmington NM's Amtgard Chapter

Locations 

Fighter Practice schedule revamp in discussion. See FB post to provide input. A&S has been changed to Thursdays instead of having that one week a month that we have to flex. 

Kiwanis Park - Saturdays

Arkin's Juice Tavern for A&S - Thursdays

Feast and Fighter Practice locations fluctuate. While we try to keep the calendar current, Facebook will have the most accurate information in a post as that often changes on the fly. Kiwanis Park has become a hot commodity on Sundays. 

Kandar's History

The witchhunter St. Zioet ventured from the Kingdom of the Desert Winds in search of rumors of ancient necromantic power and arrived at the ruins of Castle Kandar. What he found there were willing adventurers, Link, Mesh, Hemogoblin, Rookwood, Ara, Nyarlath Vahr'Kos xa Nihyl, who joined him in establishing the Freehold of Kandar.

Over the next year they recruited many stalwart and cunning adventurers to retake Castle Kandar. The Freehold joined the Kingdom of Dragonspine with the election of Mesh to monarch.

Zioet was elected monarch following the reign of Mesh.  During this time the Shire succeeded in slaying the Lich that called the ruins of Castle Kandar home, and recovered the Necronomicon. By doing so the members of Kandar brought peace to their desert and established a defensive stronghold on the northern border of Dragonspine.

Under the guidance of Bohng the Shire was elevated to Barony in 2025.

In January 2026, Lady Atannus was elected to Baroness and we dispatched the Mad Hatter. Now under Brigid's command we're building a crew to set sail on an adventure. 

While not everyone likes to be recognized for their accomplishments, Amtgard does have a way to do so. Listed here are the the award tiers, and what knighthood paths they fall under. 

 

Kandar's only current Knight is our founder, Saint Zioet Vici, our Flame Knight as a Master Smith.
